UPF readies for National Reconsolidation Month

United People's Front (UPF) Manipur has announced plans to observe National Reconsolidation Month from December 21 to January 8, in commemoration of the 191st death anniversary of Maharaj Gambhir Singh.
The announcement was made during a press meet held on Tuesday at the UPF's Keishampat Laisom Leikai office.
Sharing details of the upcoming events, UPF president Nongthombam Rupachandra informed that a 25-member team will leave Imphal on December 21 for Cachar where a commemorative event will be held on December 22 at, Awapali, followed by visit to Chandrapur the next day.
He reminded that Chandrapur is historically significant as the site of the first Meetei settlement in Cachar and the establishment of the Manipur Levy.
"There, UPF, along with Hingminnasi Eikhoi, Maharaj Garribhir Singh Memorial Committee Chandrapur, and Manipur Youth Front of Assam, will jointly unveil statues of Maharaj Gambhir Singh and Nara Singh," he said.
On December 24, a memorial observance will be held in honour of the historical legacy of Lengondabi Pat in Cachar.
The UPF team is scheduled to return to Imphal on December 25, where activities will continue under the theme "Eikhoi Amuk Khuntaklaroi" .
The observance will conclude on January 8 at the Maharaj Gambhir Singh Complex, Canchipur.
