Workshops on folk dances conducted

Kakching, October 05 2024: Under the spon sorship of Cultural Function and Production Grant Scheme (CFPGS), North East Cultural Forum (NECF), Langol Ningthou Leikai conducted a workshop on 'Leima Jagoi', 'Mao Jagoi', 'Chali Jagoi' and 'Dhol Dholok Cholom' for children of Kakching area.

The production show of the workshop was presented at Practising Junior High School, DIET, Kakching on Saturday.

Speaking to media persons, NECF, Langol Ningthou Leikai president Moirangthem Bimol Informed that the workshop is held two times in a year to teach children various folkdances of the state under the sponsorship of Union Ministry of Culture.

Students from different schools in Kakching, who are interested in dance and music, are trained during the school vacation and also on weekends as part of the workshop.

The production showcased on Saturday was the culmination of the latest workshop with 56 students performing 'Leima Jagoi', 'Mao Jagoi', 'Chali Jagoi' and 'Dhol Dholok Cholom', he further mentioned.

Similarly, under the sponsorship of CFPGS, Youth Development Society, Kakching Paji Leikai conducted a workshop for students on 'Maibi Jagoi', 'Laibou Jagoi', 'Thougal Jagoi', 'Stick Dance' and 'Basanta Barnan', the production of which was also presented at Practising Junior High School, DIET, Kakching on Saturday.
