RED/MSRRDA clarifies on bridge work

Reacting to news report published in some dailies about PMGSY work oh Monday, Rural Engineering Department, Manipur State Rural Roads Development Association (RED/MSRRDA) clarified to the public and PDCC Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency that the mentioned bridge was constructed under PMGSY I in 2020 and the length of the bridge is 180 feet with a total sanction amount of Rs 465.22 lakh.
The bridge was targeted for completion in 2022 but failed to accomplish the task due to Covid pandemic and other issues in the state.
RED/MSRRDA executive engineer pointed out in a statement.
With the aim of completing the bridge construction despite the ongoing conflict in the state, worked resumed the arrival of several components.
However.
due to technical issues, the bridge had to be re-launched, said the engineer, while informing that strict instructions were given to the contractor to dismantle and re-launch the bridge.
The statement further clarified that the bridge is not yet complete and has not been handed over to the public, with the contractor s payment still pending.
It urged the public to have faith in the department, while assuring that the bridge work will be completed soon and handed over to the community.
