Covid situation, poll preparedness reviewed

Health & Family Welfare additional chief secretary Vumlunmang chaired a meeting to review progress of Covid-19 vaccination with Churachandpur district administration, DLOs and other officers at the DCs Conference Hall here on Thursday.
Among others, he sought fullest cooperation of the DLOs and all officials concerned to deputy commissioner Pawan Yadav in achieving the goal of vaccination, and said: "We are here to serve the people, let us not turn them away".
The meeting decided to assign three medical officers and two supporting staff to help the district immunisation officer for the smooth functioning and effective implementation of the vaccination campaign.
It also decided to increase the vaccination team to 100, draw weekly plans and facilitate movement of vaccination team to the designated sites.
It was also decided that SDOs should inform the BLOs to mark vaccination status in the electoral rolls for easy identification of unvaccinated persons.
The additional CS also asked the ZEO to depute three staff members to help in data management.
WHO RRT consultant Dr Satender Kumar Verma and UNDP VCCM/CCP H Vanlalven Langel also attended the meeting.
In the afternoon, the district election officer/DC Pawan Yadav.chaired a meeting of district nodal officers and link officers/coordinators at DCs Conference Hall, Mini-Secretariat Complex to review election preparedness of the district ahead of the coming Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
Similarly, Kangpokpidis-trict election officer Kengoo Zuringla on Thursday chaired a meeting with the representatives of all recognised political parties to discuss election expenditures of candidates of all the three Assembly Constituencies of Kangpokpi District namely Saikul (ST), Saitu (ST) and Kangpokpi at the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex, Kangpokpi town.
Interacting with the representative of the various political parties namely Congress-I, JD-(U), KPA, BJP and Independent, the DEO stressed that they have a vital role for healthy, peaceful, democratically, free and fair conduct of the upcoming election.
She also urged the representatives to follow Covid appropriate behaviour and come forward to help the voters to get fully vaccinated.
Further, she also informed them to urge the candidates to file nomination papers at the earliest to avoid rush during the last hour.
She asked the candidates to communicate with returning officers of their respective constituencies in case of any doubt.
It may be mentioned that candidates can file their nomination papers till February 8 whereas scrutiny will be conducted on February 9 and withdrawal of candidature is on February 11.The election will be held on February 27 between 7 am to 4 pm.
Returning officers of Saikul (ST) AC - Bhungba Maibam Khuman, Kangpokpi A/C - Laishram Manikanta, Saitu (ST) A/C - Sapam Bishojit, district nodal officer (Expenditure Management) Rebek Lalparvul and nodal officer MCMC Tenshubam Ranita also attended the meeting.
