Three arrested for slaughtering cow on BJP flag

Imphal, January 31 2022:
Lilong police arrested three people who were involved in slaughtering of a cow on a BJP flag on Sunday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Nazbul Hussain alias Mayai (38) son of late Akbar of Lilong Tolenkhun, Abdur Rashid (28) son of late Md Abdur Rahim of Lilong Chaobok Ipham and Md Arif khan (31) son of Md Yakup Ali of Lilong Heinou Makhong.
According to police, it came to know of a short video clip of slaughtering a cow by keeping it on a BJP flag and the perpetrators ranting at chief minister N Biren and BJP Manipur president A Sharda Devi using abusive languages going viral on social media on Sunday around 7.45 pm.
The abusive languages not only demeaned the reputation of CM Biren and Sharda Devi but also incited disharmony and enmity among different castes or communities which may disturb peace and tranquillity or cause prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony among various religious groups.
Hence, a suo-moto case has been taken up in this regard and thus arrested the three people, the police added.
Meanwhile, the three arrested people were produced before the Thoubal court on Monday and later released on bail with execution of surety bond by a gazetted officer.
