All Kakching Clubs' Coordinating Committee (AKCCOC) has threatened to shut down the NH 137A passing through Kakching area in case authorities concerned do not complete the repair work by January 15.In a statement, the apex body of 18 clubs of Kakching informed that the road stretch from Kakching Lamkhai to Kakching town has been in a poor condition for long causing serious inconveniences to the public, especially during the monsoons.
Despite repeated appeals, the authority has been ignoring the public grievances, it recounted.
Further stating that the government initiated repair work subsequent to stern warning to block the road stretch in October this year, it elaborated that the committee withdrew its proposed agitation expecting the government to keep its words.
However, as the repair work stopped without completing the task, the committee resolved to set a deadline of January 15 next year to repair the road, failing which it will block the highway portion from the next day onward, the statement added.
