Meghachandra elected to FIPRESCI executive committee

Film critic Meghachandra Kongbam of Manipur has been elected as a member of the executive committee (EC) of the India Chapter of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) for the term 2025-26 .
The announcement was made during a meeting held in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
Meghachandra, a prominent figure in Manipur's film and cultural landscape, joins an esteemed panel of EC members that includes representatives from across the country.
The committee will be led by president VK Joseph (Kerala), general secretary Premendra Mazumder (West Bengal), and treasurer GP Ramachandran (Kerala).
His inclusion in the EC highlights the recognition of Manipuri film critics at national and international level.
Meghachandra has been an advocate for the promotion of Manipuri cinema, contributing significantly to its appreciation and understanding in wider film circles.
The reconstitution of FIPRESCI-India also saw the formation of an Academic Council (AC) and an editorial board for the quarterly film journal E-Cine-India (ISSN: 2382-2500) .
The editorial board includes contributors like MK Raghavendra and Meena Karnik, with Premendra Mazumder as the editor.
Meghachandra's election to the FIPRES-Cl-India EC is expected to further amplify the voice of Manipuri cinema and bring greater focus to the region's cinematic achievements on national and global platforms.
His term will run from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026 .
He had also remained as member of the Academic Council for the last two terms.
He is currently a member of the film scripts evaluation panel of the National Film Development Corporation.
