Winners of ICMT essay competition announced

Imphal, October 29 2024: Irengbam Chaoren Memorial Trust (ICMT) announced winners of the essay writing competition held on October 20 on the theme 'Responsibility of indigenous people to preserve integrity of Manipur' .

A release issued by ICMT secretary Huidrom Sanjoy informed that Mahananda Nongthombam (Class IX) of Don Bosco Higher Secondary Schools has been adjudged as the winner in Category A, followed by Salman Makakmayum (Class IX) of Khuman Maheikol Mayang Imphal in second place and Khwairakpam Lanchenba (Class IX) of Ratankumar Memorial School in third position.

In category B, Yumnam Leishemba (MA) of Manipur University won the first prize, Daina Maimom (MA) Manipur University second prize and Taorem Bijeta (Class XII) of Millennium Institutes of Sciences the third prize.

Seven winners of consolation prize in each category have also been selected.

He further said that the prize distribution ceremony will be conducted during the memorial lecture programme commemorating the 67th birth anniversary of Irengbam Chaoren on November 2 at Manipur University auditorium.

ICMT urged the winners, their institutional heads, and guardians to attend the ceremony and honour Irengbam Chaoren's vision for Manipur.

The programme will feature a special lecture reflecting on Chaoren's contributions and his objective for a unified Manipur free from oppression, he added.
