Guwahati Poumai body celebrates silver jubilee

Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me, Guwahati celebrated its 25th anniversary (Silver Jubilee) on Saturday at Shilpgram, Guwahati under the theme "Roots and Wings: Together in Strength and Spirit for Excellence" with Karong MLA J Kumo Sha and Hornbill Food and Marketing founder Daikho Moses Kesamai as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
A souvenir to commemorate the event was also released by the chief guest.
In his speech, MLA Kumo Sha emphasised reminded the audience not to forget one's roots and shared how the elders have struggled to bring them thus far.
Department of Planning & Transformation, Nagaland OSD Thomas Thailu, who also served as the first general secretary of the Poumai body, reminisced history of the Union and how it was formed despite hardships and struggle.
The event was organised under the leadership of president Bolounii Kyapaomai, and general secretary Gracy Paongaomai, acting as convenor and co-convenor respectively and assisted by the executive council and organising committee members appointed for the celebration.
The Vafiimai students in Guwahati dressed in traditional attires presented a cultural dance as Ziikhu Titus Tyaletya of Koide, Senapati performed as a guest artiste generating applause and cheers from the audience numbering over 400 members and well-wishers.
