Combined team nabs PREPAK cadre

Imphal, August 26 2021: A combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and 16 AR apprehended a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK on Thursday noon.

The captive has been identified as Mayanglambam Jenafa Meitei Babu, son of Ibotomba of Urup Makha Leikai Phunal Ningthou Laibung.

According to police, the combined team conducted search at Kiyamgei area during which Jenafa was rounded up.

Jenafa disclosed that he joined the outfit in 2020 through one Ngamba and is now working under the command of one Thoungamba Thoiba of the banned armed group.

He further revealed that he came to hand over a demand letter of the outfit to an unknown person near Kiyamgei Khongnangkhong Premier English Academy.

A demand letter signed by PREPAK finance secretary Aheiba Angom was also seized from him.

The arrested cadre has been handed over to Irilbung police station for initiating legal actions, it added.
