'Govt proposed to construct stadium in Wangoi AC'

Wangoi MLA Kh Loken has informed that he has proposed to the government for constructing a sports stadium in Wangoi assembly constituency, which has so far produced several medal winning players including three at the international level competitions.
He revealed this during the 60th foundation day celebration of New Young Sporting Club, Samurou held at the club's premises on Saturday.
MLA Kh Loken, ex-MLA Salam Joy and retired principal of DM College of Arts Moirangthem Ibohal attended the event as members of the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Loken advised the club members and local youth to remember the founders of the club and carry forward their dreams.
Responding to a proposal for setting up fitness cum recreational park, especially for elders, he asked the local people to provide the space while assuring of installing necessary equipment.
While pointing out that elected representatives of the constituency had been taking up several development projects in the past, Loken said he is continuing the works to upgrade the existing facilities and create new ones for the welfare of the people.
He also stressed the need for a sports stadium in the constituency considering its records of producing renowned players and said that he had proposed the matter to the CM, he said.
Acknowledging the damaged spill ways of Imphal Barrage, the MLA observed how the barrage used to assist in the agricultural activities of the fanners in the constituency and assured of looking into the matter.
While confiding about report that around Rs 100 crore fund had been sanctioned for repairing the bar rage, he assured will place the matter during the ongoing state assembly session.
