Bishnupur, July 25 2022: Loumee Sinmee Apunba Bishnupur District (LOUSABD), an apex body for all farmer associations of Bishnupur district was constituted today during a public meeting held at Moirang Khoyol Keithel.

The meeting resolved to appeal to the Government to provide compensation for farmers suffering crop losses; repair Moirang low & high canal and transformer of Loktak Lift Irrigation; timely provision of fertilizers, seeds and training.

In case of failure of the Government to comply with the demands of LOUSABD, it was decided to form a JAC to initiate democratic form of agitation.

Speaking to media persons, Hemam Ranjit, convenor LOUSABD stated that farmers of the State have been working hard to produce sufficient quantities of agricultural products to make Manipur a self reliant State.

"However, the farmers are suffering due to lack of proper irrigation and timely provision of fertilizers and skill training", he added.

He further appealed to the State Government to fulfil the demands of LOUSABD at the earliest in the interest of the people.

It may be mentioned that Hemam Ranjit was elected as convenor of LOUSABD along with one co-convenor each from Nambol, Oinam, Bishnupur, Moirang, Thanga and Kumbi Assembly Constituencies.
