ZSP celebrates 10th B'day with tree plantation drive

Kakching, July 21 2014: In commemoration of its 10th Foundation Day, Zou Sangnaupang Pawlpi (ZSP), Sugnu, a student's body of the Zou Tribe, launched a tree plantation drive under the theme of "Green Environment, Green Earth for nourished life and future" at Sugnu area on July 19 .

The drive commenced from S.Lokhijang Village with Mangi Singh, Sub- Divisional Police Officer, Sugnu; Maj.

Karandeep, Company Commandant of 22 Assam Rifles Sugnu Post; Leo Kamchinthang, Ex-MDC & Director of Save Mother Earth Nursery Sugnu and Rev.Fr.Mark Pao, Parish Priest of St.

Joseph Parish Sugnu planting one sapling each.

Later on, Volunteers of ZSP, 22 Assam Rifles Personnels, Police personnel, United Zou Organization (UZO) Sugnu, Sugnu Area Zou Chiefs, Zou Mother Association ( ZOMA) Sugnu and Zou Youth Organization (ZYO) planted around 200 saplings in and around the villages of Zou Tribe in Sugnu area.

Speaking to media on the sideline of the tree plantation drive, Maj.

Karandeep said that planting trees is not enough to keep our environment green.

The most important duty is to take care of it after planting.

Comparing a tree to human being, the Assam Rifles Officer said that just like a new born baby, young saplings need someone to take a good care for their growth.

The saplings we planted today will serve us and provide us many benefits when they are fully grown just as child served his/her parents when they grow up.

"So, in order to keep our environment green and get benefits from it, we have to take care of the young saplings after planting them till they are fully grown," Maj Karandeep added.

Vincent Zou, President of Zou Sangnaupang Pawlpi, explained that the tree Plantation drive was carried out instead of organising the 10th Foundation Day Celebration of the organisation after taking into consideration of the fact that such drives will be more beneficial not only to the students but also to whole mankind.

He also thanked the Maj.

Karandeep of 22 Assam Rifles and personnel of Sugnu Post, SDPO and his Police personnel, and other individuals as well as organisations for their contribution towards successful conduct of the tree plantation drive.
