Two held with arms in joint operation

Acting on specific intelligence regarding an arms deal near Lamjang village, a joint operation was conducted at 6 pm on Thursday by 37 Assam Rifles (Khuga Battalion) and district police.
During the operation, two individuals - Jangneu Haokip (33) and Lilin Haokip (42), both residents of Koite village - were apprehended, according to police sources.
The operation resulted in the seizure of several arms and ammunition, including a 9mm carbine machine gun with magazine (suspected to be a looted police weapon), a country-made pistol with magazine, 118 rounds of .315 bore rifle, five rounds of 9mm pistol, a white Toyota Glanza car (number MN 01 AG 4416), a Redmi Al mobile phone, and an Oppo mobile phone.
An FIR has been registered, and investigation is currently underway.
The accused individuals are scheduled to be presented before the court of the chief judicial magistrate, Churachandpur for police custody remand, the sources further said.
