Assam Rifles celebrates Vijay Diwas

44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector celebrated Vijay Diwas at Battalion Headquarters and various outpost locations in Tamenglong and Kangpokpi districts.
According to PRO (Defence), the fallen soldiers were remembered by wreath laying in the morning at Battalion Headquarters of 44 Assam Rifles and it was followed by motivating patriotic songs creating a nationalistic flavour among all.
Gelnel outpost in Kangpokpi district conducted poem recitation on the theme "cultural unity of India and security forces of the country" as part of the programme.
The students participated the event with enthusiasm, expressed their views in English poem recitation and also with the sketch and colours.
The most appealing slogan of the day was "we all are Team not because we work together but because we trust, care and respect each other".
The progressive view of the students about the security force and nation were indeed eye opening and heart rending.
An information display for the students was also organised.
The event saw huge number of youth showing inquisitive & enthusiastic interest in information stalls.
It may be mentioned that the unit in its endeavour to promote education and guide youth has been supporting local students by conducting coaching classes for admission to Sainik School and renovating several school buildings in various parts of Kangpokpi and Tamenglong districts.
These efforts by the unit shall further foster the bond between locals & Assam Rifles as Friends of Hill People, it added.
