Imphal, July 17 2022:
With reference to the statement of Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) that described Keishamthong Kabui Khul as Rongmei (Kabui) Khul, Keishamthong Kabui Thoubei clarified that Keishamthong Kabui Khul is not Rongmei Khul and demanded the Council issue a public apology.
In a release, Keishamthong Kabui Thoubei khullakpa Lungpuiga Remmei informed that RNCM organised its consultative meeting at Keishamthong Kabui comm unity hall on July 11.However, the meeting was not related to Kabui Khul in any manner as RNCM only used the community hall.
Since the reign of Maharaj Chan-drakriti, bajaiwala (band party) of the king and people of Haomacha Loisang Phousu Khul were made to settle in the valley to continue their works.
In 1891, during the reign of Churachand Maharaj, the ruler scouted for people who can play 'Bangun' (musical instrument) for 'Bajaiwala' and set up Keishamthong Kabui Khul for them to settle there.
During that period, Bhagirat Kabui was entitled to be Bangun master by the then king and played Bangun in state festivals and functions of the king.
As Meitei were restricted to play Bangun by the king, Keishamthong fcibuis were the only one who could play it.
Thus, Bajai wala of Keishamthong Kabui Khul had been serving the land, he informed.
While questioning the motive for branding Kabui Khul as Rongmei Khul, Lungpuiga Remmei said that suffixing of 'Rongmei' to Keishamthong Kabui Khul is an act of misleading the history of Manipur.
As such, RNCM should apologise to people publicly.
