Imphal, August 14 2021:
Sustaining the efforts of creating awareness about Covid-19, particularly among the street vendors, Committee on Covid-19, comprising various students' and civil society organisations, on Saturday organised mass awareness campaign in various areas where street vendors sell their items to make sure that they follow Covid-19 SOP guidelines.
The campaign was conducted using loud speakers in places like Konung Mamang, Andro parking, Keithel Ashangbi and from Cheirap court road to RIMS where street vendors have started to ply their wares after the government lifted the day curfew.
In a release, Committee media co-ordinator Geetchandra Mangang pointed out that increasing number of people are coming out to the streets and overcrowding in places particularly where street vendors are selling goods after government eased restrictive measures.
As such, the awareness campaign is being organised as there is apprehension of the pandemic crisis deepening in the state if Covid-19 SOPs were not followed at the time of buying and selling of goods despite the closure of markets.
During the campaign, people particularly street vendors were urged to follow SOP guidelines including frequent washing of hands, mandatory wearing of face masks and maintaining social distancing norms while selling their items, Geetchandra informed.
The Committee volunteers also made arrangement for the street vendors to follow social distancing and also distributed face masks and immune booster Arsenic Alb.
