Imphal, October 13 2024:
There is a need to develop a curriculum framework suitable for the state under the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 so as to benefit the students, said Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) president Hijam Roshan.
He made the statement at the 26th foundation day celebration of MSF held at its Kwakeithel office on Sunday.
The celebration was attended by MSF founder cum chief advisor Laishram Lukhoi, former presidents Kh Gourachandra and Md Atabuddin, and former vice president RN Koireng as presidium members.
Roshan continued that whenever a policy or a curriculum framework is prepared to improve the education system, it always fails when in Manipur.
The National Curriculum Framework (NCF) was modified time to time in 1975, 1988, 2000 and 2005 for NCERT students, but in Manipur, it could not benefit the students.
He continued that teachers and staff of government schools and the Education Department send their wards to study in private schools or outside the state.
Such hypocritical behaviour validates the people's suspicion on any curriculum framework, he remarked.
Only when NEP-2020 is fully implemented and improvement made to the education system, will it usher in development to the state.
Thus, there is a need to come up with an educational policy and framework best suited for the state, he stressed.
In his speech, MSF general secretary Sundar Khuman recounted the Federation's inception 26 years ago, and promised to work for peace, stability, and wellbeing of the state.
As part of the celebration, simple gifts were presented to the former office bearers and special invitees.
Later, a blood donation camp was organised, followed by a cultural programme.
