Not the time for political rivalry: Rajendro

Maintaining that the state is at the crossroad of an existential threat, former ICHAM president Nongthombam Rajendro said that this is not the time for political rivalry or discussing strategies on TV broadcasts.
Speaking as chief guest at the inauguration function of a new classroom block of Naorem Birahari College, Khundrakpam, in Imphal East district, Rajendro urged all political figures both in the ruling and opposition to stop political rivalries amid the current turmoil.
He appealed to all concerned to refrain from selfish acts like building up individual platforms taking advantage of the Situation, stating that it is high time for them to unite for the future of the state.
He further expressed scepticism about the dissection of certain issues regarding the current crisis in TV discussion programmes and called for reconsideration of such discussions on tactics, strategies to deal with the situation.
Reflecting on the importance of education, Rajendra hailed the contributions of teachers, especially during the current crisis, in imparting education to the students, who are the pillars of the future.
He praised the college for its excellent performance in producing better students and expressed hope that the issue of lacking teaching staff facing by the college would be addressed soon.
Principal in-charge of the college, Dr Irom Kunjabati, chairman of the College Governing Body Naorem Jotin, Khundrakpam ZP former member Usham Indrakumar were also present at the inauguration function.
