Arms, ammos recovered; UG nabbed

Keithelmanbi Battalion Assam Rifles recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition believed to be concealed by underground elements.
The recovered arms and ammunition include one AK 47 rifle, two CMG, two .32 pistol, two .22 pistols, eight magazines, 60 live ammunition and some explosives.
According to a source, a team of the AR battalion swung into action on getting specific report about the presence of a huge cache of arms and ammunition at Mongbung village in Imphal West district and the team could uncover the same concealed by underground elements during an operation conducted on Friday.
Prior to the operation, a team of the same battalion nabbed a SoO cadre belonging to KNA from Moreh and recovered one 9mm pistol, two Chinese hand grenades and several ammunition, the source added.
On the other-hand, a PREPAK (PRO) cadres was rounded up from an Imphal West district area on June 8 in a joint operation launched by Manipur police and troops of Mantripukhri Battalion of IGAR (South).
Acting on a specific intelligence, the joint operation was launched in the area which led to the capture of the insurgent member, said a PRO IGAR (S) release, adding that a hand grenade was also recovered from the insurgent.
The apprehended insurgent was handed over to Irilbung Police Station for further legal action, the release added.
