IDP-made products worth over ₹1L sold

Thoubal, March 12 2025: Products worth over Rs 1 lakh were made by the internally displaced persons were sold during a sales event organised by Thoubal district administration at the Thoubal DC Complex Counting Hall on Wednesday.

The event showcased various products handcrafted by the IDPs, including bamboo stools, dolls, candles, Kauna products, office files, pencil pouches, mobile bags, and carry bags, displayed across 15 stalls.

Speaking to reporters at the event, Thoubal DC Ahanthem Subash informed that since outbreak of ethnic violence in the state on May 3, 2023, many families displaced from Moreh, Churachandpur, Napat, Sugnu and Serou have been taking shelter in three relief camps set up in Thoubal district.

He said that the district administration has been organising skill development training programmes for the IDPs to provide them with a source of income.

"The initiative has helped the IDPs in successful production of a variety of products which are now available for sale to the public," he added.

The DC also expressed gratitude to the buyers for supporting the cause of the IDPs .
