Science Museum set up at Chandel school

Imphal, August 11 2021:
To commemorate 75 years of Independence of India, the Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) established a 'Science Museum' at Maha Union government higher secondary school at Japhou in Chandel district on Wednesday.
In a statement, IBSD informed that main objective of the museum is to develop a scientific attitude and to inculcate general awareness among the students and common people and promote scientific intervention through bio-resources for the benefit of students and commoners of the region.
The museum was inaugurated by Department of Biotechnology secretary Dr Renu Swarup while union minister of state for education & external affairs Dr RK Ranjan Singh sent his best wishes for the success of the museum through a pre-recorded message.
Among others, the programme was attended by former secretary (DST) Dr T Ramasami, Chandel DC Rajkumar Mayanglambam, ADC Ksh Siddharth, SDO N Pritam and Maha Union government higher secondary school principal Warson Anal.
The museum, established under the guidance of IBSD director Prof Pulok K Mukherjee, aims to inspire the students to choose career in science and technology and celebrate the history and future of research and innovation in the country.
IBSD is an autonomous institute under Department of Biotechnology, government of India with the mission on bio-resources development and their sustainable use through biotechnological interventions for the socio-economic growth of the region.
IBSD has been working through several programmes even during this COVID pandemic to reach to the Society and this is a great initiative for IBSD to promote science to the society, the statement added.
