Imphal, April 11 2022:
A four-month pregnant rape survivor has appealed to the authority not to grant bail to the two rapists, who are in judicial custody, but to award befitting penalty for their crimes.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Monday, the rape survivor said that on March 8, the two accused rapists, namely Oinam Sanatomba (42) son of Nabakumar of Kyamgei Mamang Leikai but presently staying at Mana Ingkhol Mamang Leikai and Koijam Ajitkumar alias Inao (35) of Mana Ingkhol Mamang Leikai came to her house asking to talk to elder members of the family.
They left after she told them that the elders are not at home.
But shortly after, they came inside her house when she was resting on her bed and outraged her modesty after tying her hands & legs and gagging her.
They also threatened to kill her and the baby in her womb if she told anybody about the incident.
Following her complaint, police arrested the two and the judicial magistrate first class sent them to judicial custody, she said.
In the meantime, family members of two accused rapists are threatening her family members frequently.
They tried to lodge a complaint with the local club and Meira Paibi but nobody is taking the matter seriously as accused Koijam Ajitkumar's mother is the secretary of local Meira Paibi organisation and his uncle the ward member, she said.
The woman then appealed to the authority concerned to award befitting punishment to the two accused rapist and not to release the two on bail as there are possibilities of the duo threatening her and her family.
