Imphal, June 09 2022:
The ongoing works along National Highway No 2 (Imphal-Kohima) would be completed within one month if there is no heavy rain, affirmed an official of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to The People's Chronicle on Thursday.
The official noted that parts of the blacktopped road, which is the lifeline of Manipur, had suffered damages, thereby inconveniencing the people.
As such, the company initiated the repair work but it was delayed due to the recent heavy rainfall.
However, as the sky is now clear, additional machines and labourers have been utilised to complete the work at the earliest.
The official continued that the work has been further delayed due to increased vehicle traffic owing to the diversion of vehicles plying along Imphal-Jiribam because of breakdown of the Irang Bridge.
Nonetheless, the company has been tirelessly working even late into the night.
Thus, considering the current progress of the repairs work, the project would likely be completed within a month, the official added.
