RIMS dedicates hall to Dr Kamal

Renowned Manipuri film maker and music composer Aribam Syam Sharma has equated hospital to a garden where different variety of flowers bloom and fall.
Syam Sharma made this remark at the inauguration of Dr Kamal Hall at Psychiatric department of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), here, on Thursday.
Speaking as chief guest of the inauguration ceremony, Syam Sharma expressed that naming the newly constructed hall of RIMS as Dr Kamal Hall will surely help in revitalising the memory of legendary Manipuri poet Dr Kamal and his famous novel 'Kanchi Leikol'.
Life is a play played between birth and death and hospital is a garden where life's play is showcased.
Many varieties of flowers bloom in this garden.
Many of these flowers will bloom and fall again in this garden, he said.
RIMS director professor A Shanta, who also attended the event, said that poet Dr Kamal was one of the most prominent doctors of Manipur and so it was decided to name the newly constructed hall as Dr Kamal Hall after consulting Dr Lenin who also loves literature very much.
He further said that RIMS authority wants to showcase rich literature and culture of Manipur to students from outside who are studying at the institute as RIMS is also an ambassador to identify Manipur.
Healso said that women's hostel of RIMS is being named after a flower of the state while men's hostel is being named after a hill.
Conference halls of the institute are being named after famous scientists and doctors, he said.
The event was also attended by RIMS medical superintendent Dr N Sanjib, psychiatric department head Dr Lenin and veteran singer Chongtham Kamala.
