Rocket attack on Moirang is attack on INA: MLA

Bishnupur, September 07 2024: Moirang MLA Th Shanti Singh has asserted that the rocket attack launched by Kuki militants on the residence of Manipur's first elected chief minister and freedom fighter Mairembam Koireng at around 3:10 pm on Friday, which killed one elderly man and injured five people including a girl, was an attack on INA War Museum.

Addressing a press meet held at his Moirang Philem Leikai residence on Saturday, MLA Th Shanti pointed out that the rocket attack site is just 100 metres away from INA War Museum, hence, it should be taken as strike on INA War Museum.

Exhorting that the current ethnic clash in the state should be faced befittingly by us, he stated that the demand of Kukis for 'separate administration' and 'Union Territory' is against the law.

The MLA accused Kukis' of resorting to unscrupulous actions which have disturbed the communal harmony among 36 communities living in the state.

Alleging that the ongoing attempt to divide Manipur has been planned by illegal immigrants, he stressed that the activities of Kukis is not ethnic clash but terrorism.

A stark example of it is the killing and injuring of innocent civilians by Kuki militants by dropping bombs via drones on Koutruk village on September 1 and on Senjam Chirang on September 2.Maintaining that the actions of Kuki militants are a challenge to Security of India, he said that Kuki is an anti-national community, hence, the central government should take suitable action against them.

The MLA underlined that if the central government does not take appropriate measures against the attacks by Kukis on Meeteis then it will be seen as proof of centre helping the Kukis.

He reiterated that actions of Kukis are against humanity and their demands will never be achieved.

The press meet was also attended by NPP Moirang Block president Ph Magha, working president Haji Umad Ali, political affairs committee chairman S Kumar and MLA Office, Moirang chief advisor Y Modhu.
