Sit-in protests bomb threat to intending candidate

A bomb found planted at the residential gate of political activist MI Khan, with a piece of paper warning him not to contest the upcoming election, has been retrieved by a team of Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and detonated it safely on Monday.
MI Khan is preparing to contest the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from Keirao AC onApna Dal (S) ticket.
As per sources, the bomb was found planted at MI Khan's residential gate at Keirao Makting Makha Leikai under Irilbung police station in Imphal East district early Monday morning.
The bomb concealed in a black colour polythene bag hanging at the gate was first spotted by MI Khan's daughter when she returned home from a tuition centre and informed Irilbung police.
A team of Irilbung police removed the bomb at about 8.20 am and it was safely detonated by a team of BDDS near Irilbung Chingthak Water Supply Scheme at about 9.20 am.
Meanwhile, a sit-in-protest was held at Keirao Makting Makha Leikai against planting of the bomb at MI Khan's residence.
Protestors held placards against planting of bomb in inhabited area and threatening people.
During the protest, Apna Dan (S) Keirao Kendra general secretary Chingakham Ibungo said that people of Keirao AC are against bomb threat and such intimidation would not stop MI Khan from contesting the upcoming election.
He also demanded clarification from those responsible for planting the bomb within three days.
