Kakching, August 04 2021:
Kakching Zilla Parishad member Mayengbam Jayantakumar of Wabagai ZP constituency has urged the state government to upgrade Wabagai High School to higher secondary level in consideration of the large number of students applying for admission to Class XI subsequent to the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) promoting all the students in High School Leaving Certificate Examination (Class X) this year.
Speaking in a joint press meet called by ZP Wabagai; Wabagai Gram Panchayat; Citizens' Association for Rural Development (CARD) Wabagai, a joint body of 13 clubs of Wabagai area, and Wabagai High School SMDC at the School on Wednesday, M Jayantakumar noted that students and their guardians are in a dilemma over admission in Class XI as most of them belong to poor family and could not afford to sustain education in schools located far away.
The education minister had assured that some high schools will be upgraded to higher secondary schools in view of the present condition, M Jayantakumar recalled, while urging for inclusion of Wabagai High School in the upgrade process as it has been a long-standing demand and aspiration of the local people.
The school is fit for upgrade to the level of higher secondary as it has requisite building, infra structure, playground, etc, he asserted.
Jayantakumar further noted that in 2019 the gov ernment had selected Wabagai High School under the School Fagathanshi Mission, but till now nothing concrete has happened.
As such, the Chief Minister, the education Minister and the department concerned need to pay attention to their demand and upgrade the school, he stressed.
