Ksh Imochaoba appointed NASC commissioner

Captain Kshetrimayum Imochaoba Singh, son of (late) Ksh Mohori Singh and (late) Rajkumari Chamusana Devi of Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai, has been appointed the first-ever commissioner of the National Air Sports Commission (NASC) by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to oversee aero sports activity in the country, especially ballooning.

IMO SKYFUN LLP chairman E Krishnakumari Devi, Imochaoba is the first and only qualified hot air balloonist in India having the flight instructor rating of DGCA and represented the country in the world championships and festivals.
He is the only civilian who trains the Indian defence force and civilians, is the representative of India in the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (World Air Sports Control) Ballooning Commission (CIA), it added.
Imochaoba was drawn to aero sports activities from a young age through the NCC Air Wing GP HQ in Imphal; underwent training in gliding and hot air ballooning in 1988 at Safdarjung Airport, New Delhi; became an instructor (gliding) in 1994; and served at the Delhi Flying Club training numerous trainee pilots.
He is also the only Indian honoured with an honorary doctorate in aero sports, especially for ballooning by the Commonwealth Vocational University, Kingdom of Tonga, it further said.
