State team for NE organic expo flagged off

A team of farmers who are engaging in various activities related to agriculture and horticulture left Imphal for Guwahati to take part in the 'Expo Organic Northeast-Expo I' to be held from February 3 to 5 at Khanapara, Guwahati.
The expo is to be organised under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCDNER) and the state team was flagged by agriculture director N Gojendro from the office of horticulture and soil conservation, Sanjenthong, here.
The state team comprises 43 farmers producing different organic products under the aegis of Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOM), horticulture and soil conservation department and agriculture department and their products will be showcased at the three-day-long organic expo.
Regarding the 'Expo Organic Northeast-Expo I', additional director (horticulture and soil conservation) and MOMA project director K Devdutta Sharma said that value added products with proper packaging produced by farmer producer companies operating under MOVCDNER will be showcased at the expo.
The state team will exhibit value added Chak-hao, lemon, orange, ginger, turmeric and other organic products at the expo, he said, adding that state farmers will get the opportunity to interact directly with national and international buyers and expand their market.
The flagging off ceremony was also attended by MOVCDNER nodal officer Ningboi Haokip, horticulture and soil conservation project officers Donald and Somorjit.
