Thoubal, November 30 2021:
BJP workers of Wangjing-Tentha AC on Tuesday lodged a written complaint to Election Commission of India (ECI) through the Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal against alleged forcible hoisting of Congress flags at the residences of BJP workers in Tentha village.
BJP workers also staged a sit-in protest demanding to stop violation of rights of people by Wangjing-Tentha Congress at Khongjom.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, one Laishram Memcha Devi of Tentha Khongbal contended that the Congress workers are violating the rights of people in Tentha village.
Congress workers forcefully hoisted their party flag at the houses where BJP flags are already hoisted and warned not to cast vote in favour of BJP candidates.
The reason for staging sit-in protest at Khongjom is due to apprehension that unwanted incidents might occur if it was held at Tentha, she added.
While urging the government to look into the volatile situation in Tentha, she exhorted for taking appropriate actions.
Placards inscribed with words like, 'Let us cast vote peacefully without fear', 'Stop forceful hoisting of Congress flag in BJP supporter residence', 'Conduct free and fair election in Tentha' were put on display at the protest site.
