AMGSU's cultural dance competition concludes

The first State Level Nepali/Gorkha Cultural Dance Competition organised by All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) concluded at Kanglatongbi on Sunday.
The competition was held in two rounds with the first organised online and the final held live at the multipurpose hall of Shree Shree Durga Mandir, Shantipur, Kanglatongbi.
A total of 106 participants registered for the competitions m solo dance and group dance category.
In solo dance, Prajakta Basnet of AMGSU Kanglatongbi Unit won the first position, while Aditi Bhandari of Moreh and Chahda Devi Mainali of Charhajare bagged the second and the third prize respectively.
In group dance, Varsha Khatiwoda and Aarati Phuyel of Kalapahaf Unit bagged the first prize; Prashana Acharya, Priyanka Acharya, Laxmi Acharya, Ami Gautam, Ritika Khanal and Riya Chhetry of Moreh secured the second position; while SwetaPoudel, Melina Basnet and Nanuka Adhikari of Serou were declared winner of the third position.
The closing function was attended by 33 Assam Rifles second in-command Lt Col Hem Sagar Uprety, AMGSU president L B Adhikari, Nepali Sanskriti Suraksha Parishad Manipur president Mani Kumar Limbu and Kanglatongbi GP upa-pradhan Deepa Thapa as chief guest, functional president, guest of honour and special guest respectively.
The dance competition was judged by Rahul Rai Bogiko, Sunita Baskota, Santosh Dahal, Trijana Basnet, Bikash Karki, Prakash Siwakoti and Kailash Bishwakarma.
The programme was also attended by AMGSU Advisory Board members, president, secretary, executives of Gorkha Welfare Union, Manipur Gorkha Youth Association, Nepali Sahitya Parishad Manipur, Nepali Sanskriti Suraksha Parishad Manipur, social leaders, secretaries, representatives of various youth clubs, women societies, AMGSU former executives and from all 17 AMGSU Units of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Col Hem Sagar appreciated the works and initiatives of AMGSU and motivated all to focus more on children's education to prepare the future generations as well as for all round development.
Mani Kumar Limbu stressed the importance of protecting Nepali culture and identity as well as promoting girls' education, while Deepa Thapa appreciated the works done by AMGSU.
L B Adhikari stated that Gorkhas should not get involved in opium (poppy) cultivation or any kind of illegal activities within the state and the country.
During the event, a flute recital was presented by Kishor Sutradhar from Serou, along with song presentation by renowned singers of Nepail community in Manipur, Raj Kumar Rijal Kanglatongbi arid Santanu Kumar Limbu.
