Bank robber Rome jailed

The court of CJM, Thoubal sent Naorem Rome of Kakching Sumak Leikai Keithel Macha Pareng, who was arrested in connection with the looting of a bank, to judicial custody.
Rome was arrested by a team of Kakching police in connection with the looting of UCO Bank, Kakching branch and had been in police custody for six days for questioning since October 24.On completion of the police remand period, Rome was produced before the court of CJM, Thoubal on Tuesday.
Based on the IO's report, the court sent Rome to judicial custody till November 12.Notably, Naorem Rome looted Rs 6,49,920 from United Commercial (UCO) bank, Kakching branch located at Kakching Keithel Khongnang Mari Phangba at gun point on October 16 at about 3 pm.
Regarding the bank loot, Kakching police registered a case and started investigation by forming an SIT.
During the course of investigation, the SIT identified the looter as sergeant (retired) of Indian Air Force Naorem Rome, 46 son of late Norem Gourahari of Kakching Sumak Leikai Keithel Macha Pareng and arrested him.
On the day of arrest, the SIT recovered Honda Activa 5-G (MN 01AJ 3173) used by Rome in looting the bank.
Apart from this, the SIT also recovered cloths Rome wore on the day, knife and Rs 3,03,500 cash.
