Imphal, August 28 2021:
Employees of Directorate of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services on Saturday staged a sit-in protest at the complex of the Directorate near Sanjenthong, expressing solidarity to the demands made by Manipur Secretariat Services Association, Manipur Government Services Federation and Manipur Secretariat (NM) Drivers' Association for rectification of pay anomalies and implementation of the 7th CPC, as agreed upon earlier.
Speaking on the sidelines, head clerk Muhammand Jamaluddin Khan iterated the demands being pursued by various government employees' associations including increasing the DA/DR from 7 to 28 percent, rectification/modification of pay anomalies and revision of pay in accordance with the 7th pay scale.
While recalling the agreement reached with the state government in 2018, Jamaluddin lamented that the agreement is yet to be fulfilled even after 3 years.
"The Government is like a parent to the people.
If a parent is unable to meet the requirements of his/her child, he/she is not qualified to be a parent, especially if the parent is all about living a comfortable life while ignor ing the needs of the child," he remarked, while pointing out that top bureaucrats of the state have been enjoying their share of the pie.
As such, employees in the lower pay strata in each district have made necessary preparations for intensify ing the agitation if the aforementioned demands are not fulfilled, he cautioned and urged the government to take serious note of the matter and fulfill the demands at the earliest.
