Senapati transporters agree to withdraw stir

Transport minister Khashim Vashum chaired a meeting with Senapati District Truck Owners' Association (SDTOA) and Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union (SDTDU) at Senapati town on Monday during which the two organisations agreed to withdraw the steering off agitation with effect from Tuesday.
The meeting was also attended by Karong.
MLA J Kamo Sha, Senapati DC Mamoni Doley, ADM PP Ronald Pao, and ASP ML Kaisungbou.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that the state police have arrested one active member of KYKL from Imphal West namely RK Jitensana alias Nanao (43) of Pangei Leiram Mapan near MPTC Gate, who is suspected to be involved in the assault on truck drivers in Sekmai on February 16 night, and that further investigation is under process.
It was also noted that in order to give due security to the trucks plying on National Highway 2, ROP shall be provided by the government.
Further, during the meeting, it was deliberated and agreed upon that in relation to the unauthorised collection of taxes on sands, the government shall take necessary strict action.
It may be mentioned here that the steering off agitation was called by SDTOA and SDTDU in protest against assault on local truck drivers on February 16 in Sekmai area around 10 pm.
As a result of this agitation, no loaded trucks were allowed to ply along the National Highway 2 since February 18 .
