Imphal, May 27 2021:
Urging the private hospitals to implement the government order which fixed the amount to be charged for treating Covid-19 patients, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has exhorted the public to contact the students' body if any private hospital is found not complying with the said order.
In a release, MSF pointed out that many people in the state have tested positive or succumbed to Covid-19 in the second wave despite taking up precautionary measures.
Amidst these trying times, some private hospitals are charging huge fees from Covid patients, it lamented.
Recalling that MSF had demanded the government to fix the rate for Covid treatment in private hospitals on May 23, the release lauded the government for translating their demand into action.
The private hospitals should also implement the government order for categorising the beds including PMJAY and CMHT.
Informing that MSF has opened help line numbers 9402275,80/8787604146, the release appealed to all concerned for contacting the Federation if any private hospital continues to charge whatever the patients as per their whims and fancy.
It also urged authorities concerned to train the doctors at the earliest so that they could treat patients through online and Whatsapp and maintained that such initiative might reduce overcrowding in the hospitals.
MSF further proposed that similar to the Indian Medical Association (IMA) aiding patients in home isolation by opening help line numbers in other states, IMA Manipur State Branch also needs to extend help to those patients under home isolation by providing tele-counselling and tele-medicine facilities.
