'Woeful' Machi block inspected

Highlighting a series of problems faced by the residents of Machi block in Chandel district, a local leader stated that residents of Machi block in Chandel have to travel to Imphal or DC office in Chandel for collecting a domicile or a tribe certificate.
This was stated in a Public meeting convened jointly by CNPO and Maring Uparup Assembly on July 22 last at Machi.
In addition to the existing lack of health care services, a major problem that the Machi residents face is dearth of water, the leader pointed out, while adding that no doctor or nurse is available for the service of the patients in Machi PHC.
The Machi High School stands in name only while the SDO office at Machi is not functioning due to absence of the SDO, he claimed and informed that several representations in this regards have been sent to the authority concerned, but no action has been taken so far.
Another leader while speaking on development of Machi road, informed the gathering that in spite of the assurance given by the Chief Minister O.Ibobi himself and the visit made by Works Minister to the 'strife-torn block' two times, no action has been initiated for the improvment of the road so far.
A group of officials of CNPO and MUA, on the same day, inspected the ongoing building construction of the SDO office and the police substation.
None of the staff of the SDO office as well as that of the Machi High school were found during the inspection.
Later briefing media, CNPO President Ws Kanral Anal demanded inauguration of the new SDO office for better administration and appealed to the SDO and its staff for regular attendance.
Regretting the absence of teachers and staff of Machi High School, he further appealed to all concerned for effective functioning of the high school.
