Dry rations provided to most vulnerable people in Kpi

Kangpokpi, June 25 2021: InSIDE North East in collaboration with Thangkanphai Youth Club and supported by Goonj and Community-Youth Collective distributed dry rations to the most vulnerable people in the area.

Covid-19 has put many people in difficult situation.

The prolonged lockdown has pushed many families to the verge of hunger.

There is the possibility of children becoming malnourished, said Hejang Misao, Director InSIDE North East.

He continued that to address such challenge, InSIDE-North East and Thangkanphai Youth Club with the support from Goonj and Commutiny - Youth Collective distributed dry rations including rice, dal, sugar, atta, maida, edible oil, chana and hygienic items such as Dettol soap and sanitary pad to the most vulnerable communities like family with Covid positive and those in home isolation, widows, destitute persons, handicaps, etc., at Shominn Academy, Saikul.

The dry rations were handed over by Seiminlen Doungel, ISL Jamshedpur FC striker.

Len Doungel said, "Love is everything.

Anything done on earth without love is like hell and will not survive the test.

Today InSIDE-North East could take up all these philanthropic works out of sheer love and that's what makes the people go back with a big smile" .

Ch Iseihenbi, a resident of Saikul hill town, while conveying her heartfelt gratitude to the organisers said that she as a mother was really worried how to deal with the shortage of food supplies for the family but the rations she received on Friday were enough to sustain her family almost for a month.

InSIDE North East Director Hejang Misao said that 350 vulnerable communities have been reached out through the programme in the first phase and reaching out to 3000 families is in the pipeline.

He further said that it was done purely on humanitarian grounds as "we can't just sit quiet when there are lots of people from the economically disadvantage background going without food" .

He added that while the medical team fight the pandemic, simultaneously there is the need to fight hunger equally.
