Colleges hold students induction programme

Under the initiatives of its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Lilong Haoreibi College has kicked off 'Students Induction Programme' on Wednesday.
The induction programme is as per the UGC mandate for making new students adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment of the higher education in colleges and universities, inculcate in them the ethos and the culture of the institution, help them in building bonds with other students and faculty members, said Lilong Haoreibi College principal Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh.
In a statement, the principal informed that the programme also referred to as Deeksharambha' is organised every year starting from the academic session 2020-21 for BA/BSc first semester under the Socialising, Associating, Governing and Experience (SAGE) scheme.
As a part of the inauguration function, social activist Dr Dhanabir Laishram interacted with the students and explained to them purpose and benefit of the induction programme.
Moodle master trainer of Lilong Haoreibi College Md Musa highlighted the MOODLE learning management system which has already been launched in the college for imparting teaching learning processes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Director Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Dr Ng Pikeshwor Singh highlighted the institutional and ethical codes which have been adopted in the college.
The college has established IQAC in September 2020 and the college is gearing up for assessment and accreditation under NAAC.
Head of Chemistry department of the college Dr W Binodkumar Singh attended as the guest of honour while head of the Zoology Dr L Sanahanbi Devi presided over the first day of the programme.
United College, Lambung, Chandel also conducted an 'Induction Programme' for fresher students of BA/BSc for 2021-22 session at its Science Block.
In his address as the chief guest, College principal Dr BD Thumdal stressed the need for the students to regularly attend class and take part in co-curricular activities.
He also advised students to join NCC and NSS activities to increase their overall personality and encouraged them to get vaccinated to stop the transmission of Covid-19 pandemic.
Associate professor (Zoology) Dorendro Takhellambam, who was guest of honour of the event, called for concerted efforts to develop the education sector in Chandel district.
Assistant professor of English Ng Roland Monsang, teachers and non-teaching staff also attended the function.
Student induction programme of NG College, Lamphelpat was also held at the college premises on Wednesday.
College principal Lairenjam Manglemba, IQAC NG College coordinator Laishram Robin and NG College Teachers' Association president Benjamin Kom attended the programme as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Vice-principal Ashok RC presented introductory speech and assistant professor Dr Sanjay Ahanthem of history department introduced student leaders of different departments of the college.
