Minister Dikho lays foundation for water supply project

In a bid to curb scarcity of water in northern Maram villages most of the season, especially during the winter, a foundation stone for piped water connection was laid on Sunday at Kavanam village, Senapati district by PHE minister L Dikho.
The water pipes connection will be taken from Kazing Water source to Northern Maram Villages, said a release by Northern Maram People's Organisation (NMPO) general secretary Tung Alex, adding that the event was organised by NMPO and its water committee.
In his speech, minister L Dikho commended seriousness and commitment of NMPO and Water Committee to find solution to water scarcity in the area.
He said the Kazing stream water source, located in a vast forest range on Maram-Peren Road about 18 Km from the NH-2, is an abode of flora and fauna that provides fresh air and fresh water not only to the area but to the region.
Further, he pointed out that enjoying fresh water of the forest will help instil sense of preserving the forest range.
Expressing confidence that the water pipes will be connected to every household at the earliest, Dikho also urged the locals to extend support and take up the programme as a community task.
The minister also informed that water project of Maram Khullen which is situated on a hilltop is under process for implementation.
NMPO president RK Kamba extended words of welcome and Water Committee member, Bosco Kashung expressed gratitude to the minister for his personal concerns, love and affection towards bringing equal development to every community beyond his Assembly Constituency.
As a part of the programme, the invocation Payeif was pronounced by Kavanam village pastor Rev Ch Tuiba in the presence of former deputy speaker K Raina, NPF Working president T Robert and NPF functionaries, Senapati District Olympic Association president Kovio and his colleagues, former ADC members LR John, Thomas Luba and A Rang, village headmen and chairmen of Northern Maram villages, Northern Youths and Students president Karaiba Francis and Northern Women president and her colleagues.
