Imphal, April 22 2022:
Iramdam Kanba Apunba Lup (IKAL) and Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) have strongly condemned Union home minister Amit Shah's announcement that Hindi will be made compulsory till class X in eight states of the North East India.
In separate statements, the organisations alleged that Hindi imposition in the North East including Manipur is an attempt to wipe out indigenous people of the region and vowed to challenge any move of the Central government which could distort language, religion, culture and integrity of people of the region.
Both organisations also said that indigenous people of Manipur and NE states would never accept Hindi imposition and urged the party running the state government to take a clear decision on the matter.
Volunteers of IKAL and KIMACS are ready to join any agitation against Hindi imposition in the state and the region, the statements added.
