Epan Thaba of new-borns held at relief camp

Imphal, January 22 2025:
The Epan Thaba/Swasti Pooja for newborn twins and a baby boy was performed at the relief camp set up at Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel by BJP Manipur Pradesh on Wednesday.
The 'Epan Thaba' ritual was conducted for the baby boy of Kangjam Johnson and Khomdram Bijaya Devi from Phougakchao Ikhai, as well as for the new-born twins of Khundrakpam Santosh and Khundrakpam Ongbi Naocha Devi from Itham Moirangpurel, who are presently taking shelter at the Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel.
Speaking at the ceremony, Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar shared that a peace committee had been formed for his constituency since the outbreak of the conflict in the state.
He also mentioned the establishment of two relief camps to provide shelter to displaced individuals.
He assured that all possible supports would be extended to the relief camps to help alleviate some of the challenges faced by the displaced people.
Furthermore, he informed that the relief camp was specifically dedicated to pregnant women who are survivors of the ongoing ethnic conflict and added that 170 babies have been born to date in the camp.
