Man killed by uprooted pigsty roof

In a bizarre incident, a man from Taobungkhok Mayai Leikai under Patsoi PS was killed after the roof of a pigsty, which was blown off during the thunderstorm on Monday, landed on him, while he was taking shelter from the rain.
The Victim has been identified as Ngasepam Opendro (44) s/o (L) Temba of Taobungkhok Mayai Leikai.
According to reports culled from the spot, Epa Loyalakpa Ema Nungthel Leima Committee is being engaged in construction ofan eco-tourism park nearby the pigsty.
Ngasepam Opendro was one of the masons employed.
On Monday, 7 people were involved in the construction work.
During the sudden thunderstorm on Monday afternoon, Opendro and three others including the owner of the pigsty, Thiyam Ranjit, who hails from the same locality as the deceased, took shelter under the pigsty.
The strong winds blew off the roof of the pigsty 50 feet away.
Opendro was found lying near the area from where the roof was blown off.
He was immediately rushed to RIMS hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries.
Later, a team led by OC of Patsoi PS conducted an inspection of the scene and a case of Unnatural Death (UD) was registered.
The body is being kept at RIMS hospital for post-mortem examination, the reports conveyed.
