Block level health mela held at Lamlai

In continuation of the series of block level health melas being organised by the state government, chief medical officer, district health society imphal East under the aegis of DC Imphal East organised a similar event at Irawat Park community hall in Lamlai assembly constituency on Wednesday.
Inaugurating the event, Lamlai MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha said that the health mela is a platform to create awareness on the healthcare facilities and benefits provided by the state and central governments to the public.
Apart from routine health check-up and free medicine, the mela is providing opportunity for screening and diagnostic testing of different ailments.
Terming the event as an attempt to promote healthy living, he called upon the people to avail benefits of the event.
CMO Imphal East Dr L Indira said that the mela is part of the government's initiative to provide door to door healthcare services and the department is providing facilities for screening and testing of 10 life threatening diseases.
It has stalls for providing services related to PMJAY, CMHT, pregnant women, new mothers, new-born child and differently abled people among others.
Indian Red Cross Society volunteers also organised a voluntary blood donation programme during the event, she said and added that similar events will be organised in two other blocks of the district.
