Awareness on cleanliness, hygiene held

In continuation of the nationwide Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign (SHS) 2024, an awareness programme on promoting cleanliness and hygiene was held at CEO/ADC conference hall, here on Thursday.
The resource persons of the programme were Senapati divisional forest officer Shanngam S, CEO/ADC Adahrii Maheo and DRDA project economist (PE) Nehemiah Rong.
Addressing the gathering, Adahrii deliberated on Manipur Plastic Policy-2022 while stating that use of plastics will be prohibited in the district HQs from October 2 onwards.
He also highlighted plastic waste management-segregation of waste at source, resource recovery facilities and so on.
Later, he urged the village chairmen and secretaries to incorporate the waste management agenda during their meeting and appealed to the gathering to make use of plastic bottles bank installed at various locations, while disposing water bottles.
Shanngam S, in his presentation spoke on the legal framework for wildlife conservation in India.
Speaking on convergence of schemes-scope of waste management under MGNREGA, Nehemiah Rong mentioned four types of convergence which are financial convergence, technical convergence, livelihood convergence and capacity building convergence.
Later, an interaction between the resource persons and people attending the programme was held.
The event was attended by village chiefs, chairmen and secretaries of the district.
