Imphal, June 19 2025:
Peace and Integrity Committee (PIC), Kyamgei has expressed concern that contrary to public expectations, the imposition of President's Rule in Manipur has failed to safeguard the lives and property of the people.
In a press release, the committee alleged that the Government of India has been unable to ensure the welfare of the people even after the imposition of President's Rule.
It claimed that Kuki narco-terrorists continue tocarry out violent acts, including the killing of cattle, while central forces remain passive observers.
The committee further pointed out failure to translate into action assurance for free movement and questioned the Centre's silence on the Gwaltabi incident, for which no white paper has yet been issued.
The Kyamgei organisation also questioned the Centre's inaction when Kuki groups refused to surrender looted arms despite appeals made by the Governor.
It further raised concerns over the lack of action against a Kuki MLA who allegedly justified the brutal killing of Three children and three women as an act of revenge.
The statement also drew a parallel with the government's past response to the Pahalgam attack, questioning why the Kuki narco-terrorists have not been expelled from Manipur in a similar decisive manner as illegal foreigners were ordered to leave India.
The committee strongly condemned the recent killing of Abdul Kadir of Paobitek Mayai Leikai and urged the authorities to take legal action against those responsible for the crime.
