Sit-in protests Sangaiprou bomb attack

Imphal, September 18 2024: A lathode bomb exploded at Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai under Lamphel police station in the early hours Wednesday.

According to a police report, the lathode bomb, allegedly fired by unknown persons, exploded around lam with the shrapnel damaging wall and fence of nearby residences including Oinam Kumari, Oinam Dayachandra and Laishram Shyamkishore.

However, no injuries were reported.

A team of Lamphel police along with forensic experts inspected the blast site.

Lamphel Police has registered a case in this regard.

Meanwhile, Sangaiprou Apunba Nupi Lup and Sangaiprou Naharol Club jointly organised a sit-in protest on Wednesday, condemning the blast.

Speaking on the sidelines, Lup president Sanasam Radheshyam contended that the explosive was neither lobbed from a location nor previously planted at the site, but hurled from another location.

The CCTV footage also confirmed this conjecture, she stated, and urged the government to announce if any suspicious drones were sighted.

She further urged for strict action to be taken up to prevent a repeat of such incidents in the future.
