Sit-in staged against arrest of VVs

Imphal, January 18 2025: Denouncing the killing of a village volunteer by police commando on December 14, 2024 near Salungpham School and the arrest of village volunteers, Heibongpokpi Nupi Samaj Association staged sit-in protest at Heibongpokpi market shed on Saturday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, Heibongpokpi Nupi Samaj Association secretary Chabungbam ongbi Binaleima condemned both state and central government for arresting village volunteers whenever they want, amidst the conflict which is directly affecting the Meetei community.

Moreover, it seemed that there are two separate laws in the state, she decried.

While denouncing killing of village volunteers and the Salungpham incident, she demanded removal of AFS-PA, 1958 from the state.

She demanded equal treatment, or else they should be allowed to fight independently.
