Three truckloads of Talab seized, burnt

Imphal, December 17 2024: Members of Meira Paibi from Sabungkhok area under the jurisdiction of Yaingangpokpi police station seized and burned three truckloads of Talab (Pan Masala) at a local playground on Monday.

According to a local source, the trucks were halted for checking by the Meira Paibis around 2 pm and on inspection were found to be loaded with Talab, which the locals off-loaded and set them ablaze at the play ground.

Police and central security forces rushed to the scene in an attempt to salvage the consignment.

Despite their efforts, two-thirds of the load was damaged, and the remaining were recovered by police.

Speaking to the media, local Meira Paibi members conceded that they are not aware about who the consignment belonged to but would not allow such large consignment of Pan Masala and tobacco products to pass through .
