Upgrade of Gurukul school, soon: Joykisan

Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) felicitated meritorious students of the constituency including positions holders of this year's BOSEM and COHSEM examinations and last year's NEET.
Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan, who attended the felicitation event held at Ima KlamthokVmribi Shanglen on Sunday, said Gurukul School located in thangmeiband AC would be upgraded to a higher secondary level and plan for developing the school into a model one has been made.
He also said that the Centre has approved infrastructure development for colleges affiliated to DM University.
As chief guest at the event, MLA Joykisan said he had discussed about upgrade of Gurukul school to higher secondary level with chief minister and education minister recently.
Engineers of education department are expected to conduct a survey for the same on Monday and DPR for the proposed structure of the school will be discussed with education minister on July 21, he said adding that problem being faced by students in getting admission lo class XI will be addressed at least to some extent if Gurukul school is upgraded.
Joykisan also informed the gathering that Central government has given approval for infrastructure development of colleges affiliated to DM University and this will help in reducing problems being faced by students in getting admission to DM college.
Among those felicitated include, three students who cleared NEET exam last year, 10th position holder in class XII science stream namely Laishram Harshita of Herbert School, 5th position holder in class XII examination Palmei Lungaifun of SDJM Higher Secondary School, 10th position holder in HSLC-2022 examination Sorokhaibam Thoihenba of Ratankumar Memorial School and 24th position holder in HSLC- 2022 examination Tanu Taorem of Tiny Tots' Unique School.
Position holder students were encouraged by presenting Rs 50,000 cash each while NEET cleared student were given Rs 20,000 each.
Other students felicitated at the event were also given cash and citation.
